Hannover advance talks to sign out-of-favor Stuttgart winger
The 2. Bundesliga side are closing on the signing of the DR Congo winger.
Hannover 96 are in advanced talks with VfB Stuttgart for the signing of Silas Katompa-Mvumpa, according to BILD. The winger’s market value has massively declined since he hasn’t featured this season. Accordingly, Stuttgart have to settle for a low transfer fee before his contract runs out at the end of the season.
Silas had a spectacular start to life in the Bundesliga by finishing his debut season with 11 goals, despite suffering an ACL injury in March. He has been held back by successive injuries since then, while he also had to deal with a false identity case that originated from the wrongdoings of his former agent.
During his loan spell at Red Star, he scored two Champions League goals and helped the club win the Serbian league last season. However, he returned to Stuttgart as the clubs couldn’t reach a full agreement on a permanent transfer.
The 20-time DR Congo international will most likely stay in Germany with Werder Bremen, Hamburg, and Schalke also showing interest in a winter transfer. However, Hannover, who are in contention for a promotion to the Bundesliga, are leading the race.
