“Happy with Pakistan’s progress,” Xi Jinping’s message; stresses strengthening ties
Beijing. Xi Jinping, in a message to Asif Ali Zardari on the occasion of Pakistan Day, said that China is very pleased with Pakistan’s social and development achievements. He said that Pakistan has pursued development amidst challenges while firmly safeguarding national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. Jinping said that Pakistan has also contributed to regional peace, stability and development while facing risks. Emphasizing on further strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries, he said that China is satisfied with Pakistan’s progress and wants to take the cooperation to new heights.
75 years of diplomatic relations
The Chinese President described this year as special, noting that it marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan, and also marks the beginning of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan. He expressed hope that the two countries will enhance strategic dialogue and strengthen coordination in development plans.
Emphasis on a community with a shared future
Xi said China is willing to build a “China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era,” which will bring greater benefits to the people of both countries. He stressed the need to further deepen the traditional friendship.
Similar stance on Iran issue
China and Pakistan have advocated for a solution to the recent escalation of tensions over Iran through dialogue and diplomacy. Dhar spoke with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi by phone and discussed the regional situation and global developments. Both countries emphasized the need for diplomatic means to resolve differences.
