Harbhajan Singh drops a massive statement on his rift with R Ashwin
On Wednesday, India’s legendary spin wizard, Ravichandran Ashwin, decided to retire from international cricket. It was by and large a bolt from the blue, as Ashwin himself said, “there’s still a bit left in me” when it comes to cricket. No sooner after the retirement did several great spinners from India start raining praises on the bowler, like Harbhajan Singh. He also put the record straight on the rumored rift between him and Ashwin. Harbhajan said that there is nothing wrong between the two. He then added that his statements on social media get twisted as if he has a problem with Ashwin.
“If there is a standoff between me and Ashwin or if there ever was any fight, quarrel or disagreement, I would be the first person to go up to him and ask what the issue is,” it would be read restricted to that. But it was never like that and it will never be like that because whatever his destiny is written, he will get it, and I got whatever was in my destiny. About India, he has been a phenomenal bowler. I am very glad for his achievement,” said Harbhajan in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.
“If people twist things on Twitter and make it seem as if I have a problem with Ashwin, then it’s their point of view. I am a little vocal about the fact that the pitches on which India play cricket are not good cricket, there is a lot of spin on these tracks and matches get over within two and a half days,” he added.
Ashwin made his Test debut in 2011 against West Indies following that red-ball cricket became his forte. Ashwin played 106 Tests, picked a staggering 537 wickets, including 37 five-wicket hauls, and scored 3,503 runs.
In Tests, Ashwin has played against Australia 23 times and has taken 115 wickets at an economy rate of 2.71.
38-year-old currently has the record of taking the maximum number of wickets in a single Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, which is 29 in the 2020-21 edition of the famous series.
He has records aplenty in long formats that seem to be quite unbreakable. Being an Indian, Ashwin is also the fastest to achieve the milestone of claiming 350 Test wickets. He is also India’s second-highest wicket-taker for India in Tests, having taken 537 scalps at an economy rate of 2.83.
