Hardik Pandya was fit till yesterday, now why is he suddenly out of Afghanistan ODI series?

The Indian team has suffered a severe blow. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the ODI series against Afghanistan. According to the report of news agency PTI, Hardik was given the green signal by the BCCI medical team yesterday (June 9) for the ODI series. But now news is coming that he will not be able to play due to quadriceps strain.

It may take about 3 weeks for Hardik to recover from this injury, due to which he will not be able to play in all three ODI matches. However, no official statement has come from BCCI yet. The ODI series against Afghanistan starts from June 13 in Dharamshala. Virat Kohli is also out of this series. Now due to Hardik’s injury, Team India’s problems have increased.

Hardik was injured in IPL also

Hardik had missed several matches of Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026 due to back spasms. After IPL, he went on a holiday abroad. As soon as he returned from holidays, he went straight to BCCI’s Center of Excellence (CoE) and prepared for 5 days in various match-like situations. He also bowled 10 overs (full quota).

He was confirmed to play in the ODI series against Afghanistan but due to a strain in the front thigh muscle, he has been away from action again. Hardik’s injury is a big blow for India, because he gives balance to the team with his pace bowling and aggressive batting in the death overs. Due to his exclusion, captain Shubman Gill will have to consider a new team combination.
