Harivansh elected unopposed as Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha
Bureau Prayagraj- Harivansh Narayan Singh has been elected Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha. This is the first time in history that anyone has been elected Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha without any opposition for the third consecutive time. During this, Prime Minister Modi himself was present. Many times such occasions come in politics when instead of conflict between the ruling and the opposition, agreement is seen.
The election for the post of Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha brought one such moment, where the decision was taken without any contest. Harivansh Narayan Singh’s election to this post for the third consecutive time is not just a formal process but also an indication of the working style and political equations of the House. Interestingly, Narendra Modi himself was present in the House on this important occasion, which further increased the importance of this election.
Winning an election without an opposition candidate is a special situation in any parliamentary process. This is either part of a political strategy or a compulsion of consent. This time also something similar was seen, when the opposition did not file any nomination and the election of the Deputy Chairman in the Rajya Sabha was almost certain.
