Maggie Smith, famous for her roles in Jean Brodie, Harry Porter films and others passed away on Friday (September 27).

Maggie Smith, known for her role as Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter films, passed away at the age of 89 on Friday (September 27). The news of Smith’s demise was shared by her sons, Chris Larkin and Toby Stephens. In a statement, her sons revealed that Smith took her last breath in the wee hours of Friday in a London hospital.

“She leaves two sons and five loving grandchildren who are devastated by the loss of their extraordinary mother and grandmother,” Smith’s son said in a statement issued through publicist Clair Dobbs.
