‘Harry Potter’ series official teaser announces Christmas release date

The new Harry Potter series has finally got the official name and first trailer release, along with the 2026 Christmas release date.

Warner Bros. Discovery shared the first official teaser for the highly anticipated series, based on J.K. Rowling’s iconic books. The revelations occurred during the HBO Max UK launch event inside The Cupboard Under The Stairs.

Titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stonematching the first film’s title outside the U.S., the series is set for a global debut on HBO Max this Christmas Day.

The trailer offered a first look at key figures from the wizarding world, introducing Harry alongside Aunt Petunia, Ron, Draco, Snape, Ollivander, Professor McGonagall, and Rubeus Hagrid.

It opens with glimpses of Harry’s difficult life, including moments of bullying at school, before shifting to the turning point, his long-awaited letter inviting him to Hogwarts.

As per the official logline, “there is nothing special about Harry Potter — at least that’s what his Aunt Petunia always says. On his 11th birthday, a letter of admittance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry opens up a hidden world for Harry: one of fun, friendship and magic. But with this new adventure comes great risk as Harry is forced to face a dangerous enemy from his past.”

Earlier on Tuesday, HBO teased the first look at Harry Potter, played by Dominic McLaughlin, in an Instagram post. The photo featured Harry wearing his Gryffindor cloak for the first time and heading toward a Quidditch pitch.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone will be released on the streamer on Christmas 2026.
