Haryana: ASI of Haryana Police arrested for taking bribe, ACB team took action
Haryana News: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jodhpur Rural, in a major action, has arrested ASI Praveen, posted in the Crime Branch of Gurugram Police, Haryana, red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 3 lakh. This action was taken late Saturday night outside Kaprada police station area on Jaipur Highway.
According to ACB, ASI Praveen had demanded Rs 3 lakh from an accused in return for not assaulting and harassing him during the remand period. The bribe given by the accused party under the scheme included Rs 1.50 lakh in real and Rs 1.50 lakh in dummy notes. As soon as the ASI accepted the bribe amount, the ACB team caught him on the spot.
Deputy Inspector General Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav said that the arrested ASI Praveen is working in the Crime Branch located in Palam Vihar, Gurugram. At present, the role of other Haryana policemen accompanying him has not been revealed, which is being investigated.
ASP (Rural) Paras Soni said that a case of vehicle theft has been registered in Sadar police station area of Gurugram district, in which a person was arrested. The accused is on police remand and the investigation of the case was with ASI Praveen. In connection with verification and investigation, ASI had come to Jodhpur with the accused on Friday.
During this time the family members of the accused were contacted. The family members pleaded not to assault and cooperate during the remand, on which the ASI demanded a bribe of Rs 3 lakh. The victim lodged a written complaint at the rural post of ACB. After verification, ACB took this action by laying a trap when it was confirmed that bribe was demanded.
