Embezzlement by showing fake purchases and stock
Preliminary investigation has revealed that government records showed the purchase and stock of paddy as complete, whereas in reality, paddy was not present in many rice mills and warehouses.
By preparing fake bills, purchase registers and stock entries on paper, everything was shown as correct. About Rs 7 crore was embezzled through this fraud.
Fake stock shown in rice mills also
SIT investigation also revealed that paddy stock was recorded on paper in many rice mills, but the grain was not found on the spot. The embezzlement was hidden for a long time by manipulating records with the connivance of officials.
Conspiracy hatched by misuse of position
According to the police, the responsible officers of the concerned departments misused their position and ignored the rules. The process of procurement, storage and distribution was shown to be correct on paper, while the ground reality was different.
On the basis of documentary evidence and technical investigation, the involvement of the accused came to light, after which arrest action was taken.
A case was registered against Asha Rani earlier also
An FIR was lodged in the city police station against Asha Rani for showing the purchase of paddy in the market through fake gate pass. He was also suspended during the investigation. However, he got a stay on his arrest from the High Court.
