Haryana News: There is a big good news for the electricity consumers of Haryana. The state has taken a major step towards strengthening power generation, achieving another important milestone in the energy sector. Coal linkage has been fixed by the Central Government for the new power expansion unit of 800 MW capacity being established at Khedar in Hisar district of Haryana. This will ensure uninterrupted, quality and reliable power supply in the state.
Giving information, Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij said that coal linkage has been allotted to Haryana under the Shakti Yojana of the Central Government for the new unit of 800 MW being established under the expansion of Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant located in Khedar, Hisar. Under this, a new coal block will soon be allotted to the state, which will ensure regular and long-term supply of coal for this project.
The Energy Minister said that determination of coal linkage will speed up the implementation of this important project and there will be no hindrance in power generation due to shortage of fuel in future. This will not only strengthen the energy security of the state, but will also effectively meet the increasing electricity demand.
He said that the already operating Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant in Khedar, Hisar is becoming the backbone of Haryana’s electricity system. This new 800 MW unit, being set up as an expansion, will significantly increase the total generation capacity of the state. With the commissioning of this unit, adequate electricity will be provided to industrial areas, agricultural sector and domestic consumers.
Vij said that the aim of the state government is to make Haryana self-reliant in the electricity sector so that consumers can get affordable, continuous and uninterrupted electricity. The approval of coal linkage by the Central Government is an important achievement in this direction, which will strengthen the long-term energy plan of the state.
The Energy Minister expressed confidence that the project will not only strengthen power supply but will also boost employment generation, industrial development and economic activities at the local level. The state government is continuously striving to strengthen the infrastructure in the energy sector and in the coming times, Haryana will emerge as a leading state in the energy sector.
