Haryana: Big relief to farmers in Haryana, CM Saini made this announcement
Haryana News: Haryana Government has started the One Time Settlement Scheme, giving huge relief to the loanee farmers. Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini launched this scheme from Chandigarh. He said that in the budget speech, it was said that PEC committees should bring a one-time settlement scheme to resolve the outstanding loans of farmers. Now the government has implemented this scheme. Under this, if the farmers taking loan from PACS deposit their principal amount, their entire outstanding interest will be waived off.
About 6 lakh 81 thousand 182 farmers and poor laborers will benefit from this scheme, whose total interest of Rs 2266 crore will be waived off. Besides, the families of 2 lakh 25 thousand deceased farmers can also take advantage of this. If the heirs deposit the principal amount of the loan, they will also get the benefit of interest waiver of Rs 900 crore. This scheme will remain in force till 31 March 2026.
Chief Minister Saini said that due to heavy rains in August and September, flood situation had arisen in many districts. After visiting the affected areas, the government took information about the losses from the farmers through the e-compensation portal. Now the government has released a compensation amount of more than Rs 116 crore to 53 thousand 821 farmers to compensate for this loss.
The amount released includes Rs 35 crore 29 lakh for millet crop, Rs 27 crore 43 lakh for cotton, Rs 22 crore 51 lakh for paddy and Rs 14 crore 10 lakh for guar. Farmers of Charkhi Dadri district have been given the maximum amount of Rs 23 crore 55 lakh, while Hisar has received Rs 17 crore 82 lakh and Bhiwani has received Rs 12 crore 15 lakh.
After compensation verification, it was found that 1 lakh 20 thousand 380 acres of agricultural land of 53,821 farmers was damaged by the flood. In the last 11 years, the government has given a total of Rs 15 thousand 448 crore to the farmers under compensation and Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme.
In Kharif 2021, the millet crop was included in the Bhavantar Bharpayee Scheme, under which assistance is given at the rate of Rs 575 per quintal. Under this scheme, today an amount of Rs 358 crore 62 lakh has been released to 1 lakh 57 thousand farmers. Till now Rs 927 crore has been given to the farmers in the form of Bajra Bhavantar.
Additionally, the government has invested extensively to promote urban development. Rs 1700 crore has been released from the EDC fund to Haryana Urban Development Authority and Metro Development Authorities of Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Panchkula and Hisar. In the same year, the Town and Country Planning Department had released Rs 1500 crore for external development works, while in the financial year 2024-25, Rs 2188 crore was spent on development works.
