Former Sarpanch of Haryana is running Menopause Awareness Campaign, giving women’s health classes to men.
Menopause Awareness: Every woman has some knowledge about what is menopause and why it happens. But most men are not well aware of this stage of women’s life. Now Sunil Jaglan, former sarpanch of Bibipur, a small village in Jind district of Haryana, has started a special initiative on this topic related to women’s health. He has started the campaign ‘Menopause Classes for Men’. This unique initiative aims to make men aware about the physical and mental changes that occur during menopause in women. Often neither men have proper information on this subject nor women are able to discuss it openly. So let’s know about this.
Awareness initiative started from the question of childhood
Sunil Jaglan tells that in his childhood he used to watch an advertisement on TV in which a girl was sitting quietly and other girls used to ask her what happened. At that time he asked his parents several times what this advertisement was about, but he never got a clear answer. Since then, the question began to arise in her mind as to why issues related to women’s health are not discussed openly. With time this curiosity turned into a social campaign. Earlier he worked to spread awareness about periods and now he is taking the initiative to make men aware about menopause.

Sunil Jaglan says that when he started collecting information on the topic of menopause, he came to know a surprising thing. He observed that almost 70 percent of men do not have correct information about menopause. Most men do not even know what kind of physical and mental changes and problems women have to face during this period.
The campaign is changing men’s thinking
Sunil Jaglan says that the reactions of the men coming to his classes are quite different. Some men feel that after menopause, the need for sanitary pads goes away, which saves expenses. While some believe that after this age, women do not need any kind of protection during sex. But when it is explained to them that women have to go through many physical and mental problems during menopause, then gradually their thinking starts changing and they start understanding this topic more sensitively.
What is menopause?
Menopause is the stage when women’s menstrual periods stop permanently. This usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 55 years. At this time, many physical and mental changes start taking place in the body of women, such as hormonal imbalance, weakening of bones, changes in mood, depression and sleep related problems.
