Haryana: Municipality chairman suspended in Haryana, know the reason

Haryana News: Dr. Sanjay Jangra, Chairman of Julana Municipality of Jind district of Haryana, has been suspended by the Director General of Urban Local Bodies Department. This action has been taken on the basis of the alleged bribery case that came to light about six months ago.

It is reported that Dr. Jangra was in jail for 38 days after his arrest by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB).

Accused of taking bribe of Rs 2.27 lakh

According to the information, on 16 August 2025 Anti Corruption Bureau Haryana The team had arrested Dr. Sanjay Jangra for allegedly taking bribe of Rs 2 lakh 27 thousand 500.

The allegation was that he had demanded a bribe in exchange for passing a bill of Rs 91 lakh 20 thousand 454 of a contractor. After receiving the complaint, ACB took action and arrested him.

Stayed in jail for 38 days, got bail in September

After his arrest, Dr. Jangra remained in jail for about 38 days. He got bail in the month of September and started taking over the post of chairman again.

This matter is still under investigation and the related case is said to be registered at Karnal Police Station.

Department suspended as per rules

The letter issued by the Urban Local Bodies Department states that if any investigation, inquiry or trial in a criminal case is pending against the chairman or member of a civic body, he can be suspended under the rules. On the basis of this provision, this action has been taken against Dr. Jangra.

Dr. Jangra’s side

Dr. Sanjay Jangra said that wrong information has been given in the letter issued by the department. According to him, the letter mentions him being ‘caught red-handed’, whereas he claims that neither was he caught red-handed nor was anything recovered from him.
