Haryana: Police ASI commits suicide in Haryana, shot after returning from duty
Haryana News: A tragic incident came to light late night in the government quarter of Police Line in Sonipat, Haryana. An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of police allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself. There was a stir in the police department after the incident. No suicide note has been recovered from the spot and investigation into the matter is ongoing.
According to the information, ASI Jasbir Singh had reached his quarter (B-1) located at Police Line after finishing his duty at around 12 o’clock in the night. After reaching home, his wife went to the kitchen to cook food. Meanwhile suddenly the sound of gunshot came from the room. When his wife reached the room after hearing the sound, Jasbir Singh was lying bleeding. The bullet had hit his temple and he was bleeding continuously.
It is being told that the wife immediately took off her chunni and tied it on his head and tried to stop the bleeding, but due to excessive bleeding, he died on the spot. As soon as the information was received, the police team reached the spot and started investigation. Senior officials were also informed about the matter.
Deceased Jasbir Singh was originally a resident of village Sitavali in Sonipat district. He was posted in the police lines for the last two years and was currently a part of the traffic wing. He was living with his wife in the government quarters of Police Lines.
Jasbir Singh leaves behind his wife, a son and a daughter. About a year ago, he had married his daughter, the program of which was organized in the police line itself. His son is currently studying abroad. He has been informed about his father’s demise and the family is waiting for his return to India.
Police have sent the body to Sonipat Civil Hospital. Post mortem will be conducted after the son’s arrival, after which the last rites process will be completed.
According to police officials, no suicide note has been found so far. As part of the investigation, the wife’s statement is being recorded and call records are also being examined to find out the circumstances under which the ASI took this step. Intensive investigation of the case is going on.
