Haryana schools closed news

The Haryana government has discontinued all physical activities up to class 5 due to severe Air Quality Index (AQI) as per Graded Response Action Plan III.

The official notice reads, “I have been directed to inform you that the government has decided that the concerned deputy commissioners shall assess the prevailing situation (as per the GRAP) in view of the severe AQI levels in Delhi and surrounding regions and may discontinue physical classes and issue necessary directions for holding online classes for upto Class 5th in the schools (government and private) in the interest of the health and safety of the students. The assessment for rural and urban areas of the concerned districts may be carried out separately.”

Haryana is one of the northern states to witness a severe Air Quality Index (AQI). Jind city in Haryana recorded 410, Bhiwani 392 and Bahadurgarh 383. Several other districts and towns recorded AQI above 300. However, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered good for health.

The sources suggest that schools will remain closed till next week. However, the government is yet to announce when the schools will reopen. Parents and students are advised to stay in touch with school authorities along with following official updates on DPR Haryana’s social media handles.
