Haryana Weather: Fog and cold day wreak havoc in Haryana, orange alert in 12 districts
Haryana Weather: The new year has started in Haryana with severe cold. Along with the dense fog in the state, now the cold has started increasing during the day and cold day conditions are prevailing in many districts. In view of this, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of cold day and cold wave even today.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cold day conditions are being recorded in a total of 12 districts – Sirsa, Hisar, Fatehabad, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Palwal, Panchkula, Ambala, Kurukshetra and Yamunanagar. There is dense fog in the entire state in the morning, the effect of which is clearly visible on road and rail traffic. Many long distance trains are running late by hours.
Day temperature below 15 degrees in 15 cities
According to the data of the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in 15 cities of Haryana has been recorded below 15 degrees Celsius. These include Ambala, Hisar, Fatehabad, Jind, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Rohtak, Charkhi Dadri, Faridabad, Gurugram, Nuh, Panipat, Sirsa, Sonipat and Yamunanagar. Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar and Kurukshetra were the coldest cities during the day on New Year’s Day.
The state’s average maximum temperature was recorded 3.7 degrees Celsius below normal. The highest maximum temperature in Bhiwani was 18 degrees Celsius. The average minimum temperature has been recorded 3.1 degrees above normal. The lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 5.5 degrees Celsius in Narnaul in Mahendragarh district.
What is a cold day?
According to the Meteorological Department, when the minimum temperature at a place remains below 10 degrees Celsius for two consecutive days and the maximum temperature is recorded 4.5 to 6.4 degrees below normal, then it is considered a cold day.
How will the weather be in future?
According to Dr. Madan Khichad, Chairman of the Agricultural Meteorological Department of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, the weather will remain mainly dry in the state from January 2 to January 7. Dense fog at many places and cold wave at some places is likely to continue on January 3 and 4. After January 5, the intensity of fog may reduce slightly, but the effect of haze will remain.
