Have a serious illness? Bihar government will provide assistance up to Rs 5 lakh!
Patna. There is good news for the poor and economically weak families of Bihar. The state government has made arrangements to provide financial assistance ranging from ₹20 thousand to ₹5 lakh for the treatment of serious and incurable diseases under the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Fund Scheme. The aim of this initiative is that lack of money should not become a hindrance in the life and treatment of any patient.
Which diseases are included?
14 major serious and incurable diseases are included in this scheme. Prominent among these are: Cancer, Bone Marrow Transplant, Heart Disease, Kidney Transplant, Hip Replacement, Brain, AIDS, Hepatitis, Treatment of Acid Attack Victims, Transgender Surgery, Cochlear Implant. Other serious diseases also included in special circumstances.
What is the amount to be received?
The assistance amount is decided according to the severity of the disease and the cost of treatment. In normal cases, the amount is between ₹ 20 thousand to ₹ 1 lakh, while for the treatment of heart disease, it is around ₹ 1 lakh, while in serious diseases like cancer, kidney transplant, the amount is between ₹ 3 lakh to ₹ 5 lakh.
Who can take advantage of the scheme?
The benefit of this scheme will be available only to those people who are permanent residents of Bihar and their family annual income is ₹ 2.50 lakh or less. Preference is given to BPL category families.
Where can treatment be done?
Can get it done in all government medical college hospitals and listed private hospitals of Bihar. If the patient’s problem is serious and he is referred outside Bihar, then the benefit can also be availed in CGHS recognized hospitals. To avail the benefits of this scheme, the application has to be submitted to the concerned District Magistrate (DM) or Health Department office. At the same time, one can also apply for treatment in Delhi through Bihar Bhawan.
