Have we shown similar outrage to social ills?
Filmmaker Era Saravanan, on Monday, came in defence of the makers of Suriya’s A whileas the film is being severely panned by critics and audiences alike.
He took the attack to those who called the film a scam and an exploitation, asking how many of them have voiced against exploitations that take place on a day-to-day basis. He said Kanguva makers would not have wanted to produce a film disliked by all; they would’ve wanted to give a good film. He added that a friend of his who claimed he was “cheated” by Suriya had actually lost Rs 15 lakh to a financial scam.
Saravanan listed out three things he expects from the fans: 1) Film celebrities neither deserve a demi-god status nor this amount of derision; 2) People who feel betrayed that a film wasted three hours of their time should also remember they have voted in some MLAs and MPs for five years; and 3) People need not feed opinions just because they are popular; they just have to go by their conscience.
