Have you eaten desi pizza? Pan and roti cooked from this stall in Raipur is going viral, after eating it you will say ‘wow’ yourself…
New Delhi:- Nowadays is the era of fast food, isn’t it? He is filling his stomach by eating pizza and burgers. But, the earthy aroma of our Chhattisgarh Angakar Roti (also known as Panpurva Roti) is making a comeback with a bang. Damrudhar Nayak Bhaiya of Saraipali in Mahasamund district is keeping the tradition of his ancestors alive by running his breakfast center in front of DD Nagar, Mansarovar Bhawan in Raipur. This trend has been going on for four years, and has now become the first choice of the people.
What is special in Angkar Roti?
In ancient times, village farmers and laborers used to eat this thick and strong roti in the morning and work hard in the fields throughout the day. Once you eat, you don’t feel hungry for hours – it gives you full strength!
- How it is made: Rice, urad dal, wheat, jowar-millet flour is mixed and kneaded. Then it is cooked slowly in the traditional way – with a fire below, hot coals placed on top. This is where the wonderful taste and nutrition comes from!
And along with that tomato-green chilli-coriander chutney ground on silbatta – oh wow! There is a tingling sensation on the tongue as soon as you taste it. People come from far and wide just for this chutney. This is special in cold weather
Damrudhar Bhaiya says – “This is not just food, it is the rural life of our Chhattisgarh and the heritage of our ancestors. This initiative has been taken to make it popular again in the city.”
The price is also very pocket friendly
- Whole Tawa Roti: Rs 100
- Half Tawa: Rs 50
- Quarter: Rs 25
The prices have been kept so that everyone can eat easily. 250 rotis are being sold daily! Along with this, millet cheela roti is also available, but Angkar is in highest demand.
This breakfast center is not only promoting our culture but has also provided employment to 6-7 people. Seeing Damrudhar Bhaiya’s dedication, it seems – if we save tradition from our heart, then desi taste can rule in the city too. Leave the pizza-burgers, next time you come to Raipur, definitely visit DD Nagar. Try the roasted roti – it will be so delicious that you will want to do it again and again! Keep the pride of our Chhattisgarh alive.
