Digital vouchers mandatory from January 10, 2026 – Obnews
HDFC Bank has updated its complimentary airport lounge access policy for debit card holders, introducing a digital voucher system and increasing the minimum spend limit, which will be effective from January 10, 2026.
Under the new rules, physical debit card swipe will no longer grant lounge entry. Instead, customers who spend **₹10,000 or more** in a calendar quarter (only through purchase transactions) will receive an SMS/email within two working days containing a link to claim the voucher. After OTP verification on the registered mobile, a QR code or 12-18 digit voucher code will be issued to be shown in the lounge.
This doubles the previous quarterly spending requirement of Rs 5,000. Transactions not covered include ATM withdrawals, UPI/wallet loads (eg, GPay, PhonePe, Paytm), credit card bill payments, and debit card EMIs. New card holders will also have to meet this limit.
**Infinity Debit Card** is exempt, which grants lounge access with no spend strings attached. The number of complimentary visits per quarter will remain the same:
– Millenia, Times Points, GIGA Debit Card: 1 visit
– Platinum, Business Debit Card: 2 visits
– Infinity Debit Card: 4 visits
Vouchers will be valid till the end of the next calendar quarter (e.g. issued on January 10, 2026: valid till June 30, 2026). Lost vouchers can be reissued through the Helpdesk.
These changes encourage greater card usage and digital processes, as well as simplify verification. Frequent travelers should track quarterly spend and claim vouchers in advance for hassle-free access to participating domestic lounges.
