HDFC Life Insurance has said during a regulatory filing that we have received this information through communication with an unknown source. This source wrongly shared with us information about the data breach they caused to our customers. Taking caution regarding this matter, the company has started the process of information security assessment and data log analysis.

While talking to a news agency, the company has said that this matter is being investigated closely. Its root cause is being ascertained and with the advice of information security experts to take necessary action, the company has decided to continue its investigation by obtaining information about its impact assessment. The company said that we will take appropriate steps to address the concerns of our customers and will exercise caution while taking action to protect their interests.
IRDA also expressed concern
Only last month, insurance regulator IRDAI has expressed concern over the recent cases of data leakage of policyholders and has ordered two life insurance companies to audit their IT systems. However, without naming any insurance company, IRDA has said that they are very serious about the data leak. IRDAI has also stressed that insurance companies should ensure to the customers that this will not happen again and keep in mind that the interests of the policyholders will be protected.
