He Followed, Waited, Then Shot Her: How A Bengaluru Techie Killed His Wife | India News
The killing of a 39-year-old bank manager in west Bengaluru was premeditated and planned over several months, police said, adding that the accused, her estranged husband and a software engineer, had procured an illegal pistol in advance and carried a knife as a backup to ensure the murder was carried out.
The accused, identified as 40-year-old Balamurugan, allegedly procured an illegal pistol nearly four months before the crime and carried a knife as a backup weapon to ensure the killing was executed without failure.

On Tuesday evening, right around 6:30 pm, Bhuvaneshwari got shot at point-blank range near 1st Main Road in Rajajinagar Industrial Area, west Bengaluru. Her estranged husband opened fire with multiple shots in a crowded spot, leaving everyone around frozen in shock.
Cops found four spent shells at the scene; one bullet was missing. The post-mortem showed she had multiple gunshot wounds.
Right after, the techie just strolled into the nearest police station and gave himself up. He turned over the gun and a knife he’d brought along. When they questioned him, he straight-up said his wife “deserved it.”
Cold-Blooded and Planned Out
This wasn’t some heat-of-the-moment thing; police are sure of it. Balamurugan had been plotting to kill her for months. The accused got hold of a pistol and bullets through shady back channels and even packed a knife as backup, in case the gun jammed.
That same night, they took him back to the spot for a mahazar. The accused walked the police official through it all, cool as ice, said he hung back till he knew she was gone, then headed straight to the station, just like he’d rehearsed in his head.
The officers grilling him called him eerily calm and distant, with zero regret in sight.
A Troubled Marriage from the Start
They tied the knot back in 2011, but things soured fast. Balamurugan kept hounding her over supposed affairs, family and police say.
It got uglier once kids came along and reconciliation tries fell flat. Relatives claim he beat her regularly and even went after the children.
Their 8-year-old boy told reporters his dad was always yelling at mom and hitting both him and his little sister.
The victim leaves behind her parents, two brothers, and two little ones, an 8th-grade son and a UKG daughter.
Probe On Into the Gun’s Origins
Police are investigating the source of the illegal firearm, including whether it was procured from outside the state and if others were involved in supplying it. Meanwhile, a court sent the accused to 14 days’ police custody on Wednesday.
