‘He Spits And Licks It Back’: Honey Singh Gives Unminced Response To Badshah’s ‘Call It Quits’ Attempt
Honey Singh has been in the spotlight recently, thanks to the release of his documentary Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famousnow streaming on Netflix. The rapper-singer, known for his chart-topping hits and controversies, is making headlines once again, this time for addressing his long-standing feud with fellow rapper Badshah in an interview with India Today.
The two artists, who were once part of the same rap group Mafia Mundeer, have had a turbulent relationship for over a decade. Their rivalry has often played out in public, with both taking jabs at each other through music and interviews. However, Badshah recently expressed a desire to reconcile, during his performance at GraFest 2024. Pausing midway through his set, Badshah said, “There was a phase in my life where I held this grudge against one person, and now I want to call it quits and leave that grudge behind – and that’s Honey Singh.”
In response to this, Honey Singh didn’t mince words. When asked about Badshah’s peace proposal, the rapper was blunt, saying, “He is one of those who spits and then licks it back; just watch, he’ll flip again.” Singh went on to explain his side of the story, emphasizing that for years, he remained silent while Badshah took repeated digs at him. “A fight happens between two people when both are involved, but for 10 years, one man kept abusing me, making songs about me, mocking my illness, and I never responded,” Singh said.
Honey Singh had been on a long hiatus due to struggles with addiction and subsequent treatment, and he revealed that his fans played a role in prompting him to speak out. “It was only this year, in 2024, that I started speaking up, and that too because of my fans. My fans sent me DMs saying, ‘Please speak up, this is about our dignity now. A man is continuously speaking ill about you,’” Singh shared.
Despite Badshah’s apology and attempt to mend their relationship, Singh remains skeptical. “He admitted his mistake, but he is one of those who spits and then licks it back,” he remarked, adding, “I don’t consider people like that to be anything.”
The animosity between Badshah and Honey Singh dates back to their time in Mafia Mundeer. After their public fallout, the two have often taken jabs at each other in public, with their feud continuing to captivate fans and the media alike.
