Sukma:- A youth died due to non-availability of ambulance in Jagargunda area of the district. After this, when an ambulance was not available to take the dead body, the family members were forced to carry the dead body on a cot. The incident has exposed the serious condition of the health system.
Barse Rameshwaram (40), a youth living in Jagargunda area, was unwell. He complained of swelling in his hands and legs and stomach pain. Initially he was treated at Jagargunda Hospital, but later his health suddenly deteriorated at home. The family called several times for an ambulance, but even after hours the ambulance was not available.
After this, the family took the young man to the hospital for treatment on a two-wheeler, but before reaching the hospital the young man died on the way. After the death of the youth, the family members again demanded an ambulance to take the body, but citing holidays, the ambulance was not provided.
Dead bodies taken to the ghat
Ultimately the family members were forced to take the body home on a cot. This incident took place in Jagargunda Hospital area, located about 90 kilometers from the district headquarters. The young man lived in Chimlipenta village, six kilometers away from Jagargunda Hospital.
It is noteworthy that the Central and State Governments are spending crores of rupees on health facilities, but due to the negligence of the officials at the local and district level, the villagers are facing such problems.
