People often do not like bottle gourd, but when it is mixed with curd and made into raita, its taste becomes even more delicious. It is not only light and easy to digest, but is also considered very beneficial for health.

  • 1 cup grated bottle gourd
  • 2 cups fresh curd
  • 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp black salt
  • salt as per taste
  • 1-2 green chillies (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp green coriander (chopped)

How to make Lauki Raita

Bottle gourd raita is a tasty and healthy dish. To prepare this, first wash the bottle gourd thoroughly, peel it and grate it. Now add some water in a pan and boil the grated bottle gourd for 5-7 minutes. When the gourd becomes soft, keep it aside to cool and drain off the excess water.

Take curd in a bowl and beat it well so that it becomes smooth. If the curd is too thick, you can dilute it by adding some water.

Now add boiled bottle gourd to the whipped curd and mix well. Add salt, black salt, roasted cumin powder and green chillies and mix well. Garnish by adding green coriander on top.

Serve bottle gourd raita chilled. It tastes delicious with dal, rice, paratha or pulao and doubles the taste of the food. It can be served any time for lunch or dinner.
