He said that the court has postponed the hearing of this case to October 1.

Rahul Gandhi News: Hearing in the case filed against Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on charges of defamation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah was postponed in the MP-MLA court here on Saturday.

Petitioner Vijay Mishra's advocate Santosh Kumar Pandey said that the plaintiff's statement was to be recorded in the above case on Saturday, but due to a health camp organized by the Bar Association in the court on Saturday, all the advocates were busy in it, due to which no work could be done in the court. He said that the court has postponed the hearing of this case to October 1.

Rahul Gandhi is accused of making derogatory remarks about Shah during the Karnataka Assembly elections in 2018, regarding which a case was filed in the court in August 2018 by Sultanpur district BJP leader Vijay Mishra.

Rahul had surrendered in the court on 20 February 2024 during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, after which he got bail on a personal bond of Rs 25,000 each.

After this, the court issued notices several times to Rahul Gandhi to record his statement, but due to his busy schedule during the Lok Sabha elections, he could not reach the court.

The court had ordered him to appear in a strict tone, after which on July 26, Rahul reached the Sultanpur court and recorded his statement and said that this case has been filed to gain cheap popularity. (pti)
