Mumbai Sessions Court is going to give its verdict today on Friday. The fate of eight people will be decided in this case. These include five policemen from Haryana. He is accused of murdering gangster Sandeep Gadoli in a hotel in Mumbai in 2016. It is alleged that this encounter was fake (staged).
Sandeep Gadoli was a notorious gangster of Haryana. Starting with small jobs, he became one of the most wanted criminals of North India. His father Bhup Singh Jat was a sub-inspector in Haryana Police but Sandeep’s path led towards the world of crime.

The story started with ransom
He started with small ransom and extortion. Later, when a young man allegedly misbehaved with his sister, Sandeep killed that young man in broad daylight. Earlier he was with the gang of Binder Gujjar of Gurgaon but later there was a fight between the two, after which Sandeep formed his own separate gang.

From 2005 to 2015, he was active in illegal liquor smuggling, extortion and property cases in Gurgaon and South Haryana. There were 36 criminal cases registered against him including murder, attempt to murder and extortion. Haryana Police declared him a most wanted criminal and offered a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his arrest but he remained evading the police for many years. He called himself a property dealer.
On 7 February 2016, Sandeep Gadoli was shot at the Airport Metro Hotel (near Andheri), Mumbai. The Haryana Police team claimed that they had gone to arrest him. According to the police, Sandeep took out a pistol from under the pillow and fired and he was killed in retaliatory firing.
The family alleged
However, Gadoli’s family alleged that the encounter was fake. Mumbai Police investigated and said that it was a staged encounter. Eight people were arrested in this case. These included five policemen including Sub-Inspector Pradyuman Yadav of Haryana Police. Gadoli’s girlfriend Divya Pahuja and her mother Sonia Pahuja also became accused.
Investigation alleged that Divya Pahuja had told the police the location of Gadoli but the accused deny this allegation. He says that the police tracked him through technical monitoring and followed the correct procedure.

How long did the case last?
This case has been going on for many years. In 2023, Mumbai High Court granted bail to some accused including Divya Pahuja, Deepak and Jitendra. The rest of the trial continued. The violence continued even after Gadoli’s death. In 2016, his brother Brahma Prakash killed Binder Gujjar’s brother Manish. This game of revenge continued continuously.
Another twist came in 2024 when Divya Pahuja herself was murdered in a hotel in Gurgaon. She was out on bail at that time.
