Heat stroke and dehydration: Know its serious symptoms and effective preventive measures from the doctor.

News India Live, Digital Desk: As the temperature of summer is increasing, cases of heat wave and dehydration are coming to the fore rapidly. In many parts of North India including Uttar Pradesh, the temperature has crossed 40 degrees Celsius. In such a situation, health experts have issued a warning regarding heat stroke. If its symptoms are not recognized and treated at the right time, this condition can also prove fatal. According to doctors, heat stroke occurs when the internal temperature of the body goes above 104°F (40°C) and the body loses the ability to keep itself cool. Major symptoms of heat stroke and dehydration: Never ignore these changes in the body: High fever: Sudden increase in body temperature. Headache and Dizziness: Feeling heaviness or dizziness after being in strong sunlight. Redness and heat of the skin: Stopping of sweating and the skin feeling completely dry and hot. Nausea and vomiting: Feeling nauseous or repeatedly vomiting. Muscle cramps: Severe pain or strain in the muscles of the arms and legs due to dehydration. Dark urine: If the color of urine is dark yellow, it is a sign of severe dehydration. Prevention Tips Recommended by Doctors: Follow these precautions to avoid heatstroke: Stay hydrated: Drink water from time to time even if you do not feel thirsty. Consuming ORS, lemon water, coconut water and buttermilk compensates for the lack of electrolytes in the body. Go out at the right time: Avoid going out between 12 noon and 4 pm, when the sun is at its strongest. If it is necessary to go out, then keep an umbrella, hat or cotton cloth on the head. Light colored clothes: Wear light colored loose cotton clothes instead of dark colored and synthetic clothes. These absorb sweat and keep the body cool. Attention to food: Avoid eating too much fried and spicy food. Include water-rich vegetables and fruits like cucumber, watermelon, orange and bottle gourd in your diet. Avoiding alcohol and caffeine: Excessive consumption of tea, coffee and alcohol dehydrates the body quickly, so minimize their consumption. What to do in case of emergency? (First Aid) If someone around you gets heat stroke or becomes unconscious: Immediately take him to a cool or shady place. Place cold water compresses on the body or bathe him with cold water. If the person is conscious, slowly give him water or electrolytes. If the condition does not improve, take him to the nearest hospital without delay.
