Heat Wave Action Plan implemented to deal with heat in Delhi, new rules decided for children and laborers
New Delhi: In view of the increasing heat and heat wave in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has given instructions to further strengthen the ‘Heat Wave Action Plan 2026’. This time the Delhi government has made the strategy more scientific and effective than before. In this, special care has been taken for school children, construction workers, animals, birds and common people.
Special rules for school children and laborers
According to media reports, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that if needed, school children will be given ORS solution in the school itself and sent home before the holidays. This will reduce the risk of dehydration on the way.
In case of severe heat wave, laborers working on construction sites will be provided with water, cap, towel and medical facilities if needed. There will be a complete ban on all outside work from 12 noon to 3 pm.
This update regarding power cut
Actually, Delhi government has paid special attention to thermal hotspot and heat island areas. For the last 2-3 years, the temperature in Delhi has been above 40 degrees for 40 consecutive days. This time the peak demand of electricity may cross 9,000 MW.
Last year it was 8,442 MW. The CM has clearly told the power companies that there should be no cut in supply. All departments have been asked to arrange water and shade for animals and birds.
Temperature will decrease with this technique
According to the information received, under ‘Cool Roof Policy 2026’, the work of reflective coating on 28,674 square feet on the roofs of Kashmere Gate ISBT has been completed. This will keep the temperature inside the building low.
It is noteworthy that the government has put more than 339 health centers on alert in all the 13 districts of Delhi. Special ‘cool rooms’ with 5 beds have been prepared in more than 30 hospitals. These are for heat wave victims.
Special teams are also being deployed to help the people affected by heat wave. CM Rekha Gupta said that instructions have been given to the departments to provide water to animals and birds. The government is trying to ensure that this time no one dies due to heat and every citizen remains safe.
