Heatwave Alert: North India will scorch due to temperature crossing 45°C, yellow heat wave alert in Delhi from April 22
At present, the heat is at its peak in many states of North India including Delhi-NCR. It has become difficult to go out in the afternoon, because the strong sun and hot winds are scorching people. At many places the temperature has crossed 45 degrees, due to which the situation has become more serious. ACs and coolers are definitely providing some relief inside the houses, but it has become very important to avoid the heat wave going on outside. The Meteorological Department has also issued a warning regarding the coming days, from which it is clear that the heat wave will continue.
The maximum temperature in the capital Delhi today is expected to be around 42 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be around 22 degrees. The sky will be clear and the sun will be bright. There will not be much change in the weather even on 21st April. But the situation may worsen from April 22. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert from this day, which will remain in effect till April 24. During this period, there is every possibility of heat wave and the temperature may increase further. The night temperature will also increase, which can reach 24 degrees. However, it is expected that there will be some relief after April 25.
Heatwave alert in these states
According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of heat wave will be seen in many parts of North-West, Central and Eastern India for the next few days. Warnings have been issued for several states on different dates:
19-20 April: There is a possibility of heat wave in Western Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh.
19-23 April: There will be an effect of intense heat in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Eastern Rajasthan and Eastern Madhya Pradesh.
20-21 April: Hot winds will disturb some parts of Jharkhand also.
20-22 April: Heat wave warning has been issued in western Uttar Pradesh.
20-23 April: The scorching heat will continue in western Rajasthan.
21-23 April: The temperature will increase rapidly in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh and the effect of heat wave will be visible.
At the same time, heat and humidity will trouble people in some parts of South and Eastern India. There will be hot and sticky weather in some areas of Kerala and Mahe during April 19-20. From 19 to 23 April, humid heat will increase in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Coastal Karnataka. Between April 20 and 25, the Ganga plains of West Bengal will also be affected by heat and humidity.
In some areas the night temperature will also be higher than normal, due to which people will not get relief even at night. Hot night warning has been issued for Haryana and Chandigarh during 21 to 23 April, western Uttar Pradesh and Odisha during 19 to 21 April, and Chhattisgarh on 19 April.

The Meteorological Department says that between April 18 and 24, the maximum temperature in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi may gradually increase by 3 to 5 degrees. This means that the heat may cause more trouble in the coming days.
Chance of rain in these areas
While on one hand there is heat wave in North India, on the other hand rain can provide relief in some states of North-East India. There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in Assam and Meghalaya between April 19 and 21. On April 19, there may be heavy rain in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. There is a possibility of very heavy rainfall in some areas of Arunachal Pradesh on 20th and 21st April.
