Heavy police force outside Abhishek Banerjee’s house, what is going on inside?
Kolkata: Abhishek Banerjee, National General Secretary of Trinamool Congress and one of the prominent faces of West Bengal politics, is once again seen embroiled in controversies. On Monday, a large number of police forces were deployed at his residence 188A Harish Mukherjee Road in Kolkata. After this incident, the stir in the politics of the state intensified and political rhetoric has also started.
Why did this action happen?
According to the information, this action took place after the notice related to illegal construction issued by Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Describing some parts of Abhishek Banerjee’s house as constructed against the rules, the Municipal Corporation had directed him to reply within seven days and take necessary steps. As soon as the notice deadline ended on Monday, the police team reached the spot. However, till now no official statement has come from the administration in this matter.
It is being told that the Municipal Corporation had claimed in its notice that some parts of the house have been constructed without necessary permission. According to the rules, if the illegal construction is not removed within the stipulated time or a satisfactory reply is not given, then the administration can take further action. Under this process, the presence of police is being monitored.
On the other hand, there is resentment among Trinamool Congress supporters and workers regarding this development. Party leaders allege that administrative institutions are being used to suppress opposition politics. Many activists have called it an action motivated by political vendetta.
Political atmosphere heated in West Bengal
It is noteworthy that the political atmosphere in West Bengal is already quite heated. There is a continuous round of allegations and counter-allegations going on between the ruling party and the opposition in the state. In such a situation, the deployment of police force at Abhishek Banerjee’s residence has further intensified the political debate. There is a possibility of further tension in the state politics on this issue in the coming days.
