Will buy you too… Controversy increases after Sangeet Som calls Shahukh Khan a traitor, fans come to the superstar’s defense

During a public event in Meerut city, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former MLA Sangeet Som made very sharp and controversial remarks on Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan. Due to this he has become embroiled in a lot of controversies. Speaking at the programme, Sangeet Som linked some incidents happening in the neighboring country Bangladesh with the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament. Sangeet Som argued that considering the difficult situation going on in Bangladesh, doing so is very insensitive and is against the sentiments of the country. In his statement, very strong and harsh language was used for Shahrukh Khan, due to which this matter became such a big controversy. He even called Shahrukh Khan a ‘traitor of the country’ and also said that such people do not deserve to live in the country. Sangeet Som did not cite any government figures or official statements in his speech.

Now some of Shahrukh’s fans have come to his defence. Tagging Sangeet Som, one wrote, ‘Hey Nala, he can buy that Techo also, Nala, what is your rate?’ Another said, ‘He was and always will be a king.’ Another said, ‘Bollywood and Bollywood stars have always been a soft target for politicians.’

This entire controversy is related to the mini auction of IPL 2026 season held recently in December 2025. In this, Shahrukh Khan’s team Kolkata Knight Riders included Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman in their team by paying a huge amount of Rs 9.20 crore. This auction was part of the normal process of the league, in which many teams bid on different players. Mustafizur Rahman is an experienced bowler and has played for many IPL teams before.
