Helmet Visor Hacks: Are you worried about blurry vision in the rain? Try these 3 magical home tricks, not even a drop of water will last.
With the onset of monsoon, the biggest problem for two-wheeler drivers is the helmet visor. During the rainy season, water drops start accumulating on the visor, due to which the road ahead is not clearly visible. This situation becomes even more dangerous at night or during heavy rains because the lights of the vehicles coming from the front fall on the water droplets and dazzle the eyes. To deal with this problem, people usually buy expensive anti-rain sprays, but if you want, you can get rid of this problem forever with the help of some very simple things present in the house.
First trick: Magic layer of shampoo (Shampoo Trick)
The easiest and most economical way to quickly remove water droplets from your visor is right in your bathroom. For this you have to apply a very thin layer of shampoo on the helmet visor. Spread the shampoo lightly over the entire mirror using your fingers and then gently wipe it off with a dry, soft microfiber cloth. By doing this, a smooth coating is formed on the visor, due to which the rain water slides straight down instead of stopping on the glass and your riding remains safe.
Second trick: Miracle of chopped potatoes (Potato Coating)
This home remedy is considered very popular and effective among bikers. All you have to do is take a raw potato and cut it in half. Now rub this cut potato part thoroughly on the outside of the helmet visor. Actually, starch is found naturally in potatoes. When you rub it on the windshield, the starch forms a temporary water-repellent layer over the visor, preventing water from sticking to the surface even in heavy rain.
Third trick: Effect of shaving cream (Shaving Cream Hack)
If shampoo or potato is not available at home, you can also use shaving cream used by men. Apply a small amount of shaving cream to the outside of the visor and spread it evenly. After some time, wipe it with a clean and dry cotton cloth and make it shine. This layer of shaving cream prevents moisture and fog from forming on the windshield, giving you a clear and crisp view even in heavy rain.
Take special care of these things before adopting any trick
Clean thoroughly first: Before trying any of the above mentioned home remedies on the visor, rinse the helmet with clean water. Remove all dust, dirt, grease and fingerprints completely so that the coating sits directly on the glass and gives better results.
These measures are temporary: Keep in mind that all these home remedies are temporary. This coating is removed after two or three rides or when the helmet is washed again with water. Therefore, in case of emergency or before going on every new ride, you may have to repeat this process again.
Avoid strong chemicals: Many people apply the rain-repellent chemical used in car windshields on their helmets, which is extremely dangerous. The material of car glass and helmet visor is different. Strong chemicals can permanently damage the helmet’s polycarbonate material and its UV coating, causing it to fog up.
If you travel long distances daily, it is best to use these home remedies in case of emergency. For a long-term solution, you can also opt for special helmet anti-fog film or visor rain guard treatments available in the market.
