'Her Skill Her Future' initiative paves the way for positive change in the lives of widowed women
New Delhi. To empower widowed women across the country and achieve their financial independence, Loomba Foundation today launched 'Her Skill, Her Future' program at The Oberoi Hotel Dr Zakir Hussain Marg, New Delhi, which aims to empower 1 lakh women in India. The aim is to bring such women into the mainstream of society at the grassroots level along with strategic program implementation.

Rajinder Paul Loomba had established the foundation
Apart from promoting inclusive growth and improving the economic status of such women, the Foundation will ensure that the 'Her Skill Her Future' initiative not only brings about a positive change in the individual lives of the widowed women, but also in their families and society. Create a path for change.
The Loomba Foundation was established in 1998 by Lord Rajinder Paul Loomba in the presence of the then Prime Minister Tony Blair in London, the capital of the United Kingdom. His late mother Pushpa Vati Loomba was widowed at the early age of 37. Rajinder Loomba, who was only 11 years old at the time, witnessed firsthand the hardships and discrimination his mother faced as a widow.
A matter of pride for Indians: Smriti Irani

Addressing the program, Smriti Irani, former Women and Child Development Minister of the Government of India and Vice President of the Foundation, said that after being a successful industrialist, Rajinder has taken up the task of socially and economically empowering widowed women around the world. Vice President Smriti Irani praised the Foundation for this initiative.
He said that the day of Mahatma Gandhi's assassination has been declared by the United Nations as the International Day of Non-Violence. Due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, June 21 was declared International Yoga Day. Whereas, due to the efforts of Loomba Foundation, which is working as a mission to uplift the widowed women of the world, the United Nation has declared June 23 as International Widows Day about 10 years ago. On this date, Rajinder Paul Loomba's mother became widow. This is a matter of pride for all of us Indians. Foundation President Sherry Blair also spoke about the work the Foundation has been doing since 1998 and its future plans. BJP MLA Kunwar Ramveer Singh, who won from Kundarki assembly with record votes, also participated in this program.
For centuries, the struggle of widowed women has been a hidden disaster, ignored and neglected by the society. According to 'Not Leaving Widows Behind', a study by Cambridge University, 285 million widows in the world face serious hardships including poverty, illiteracy, disease and social injustice. Out of these 285 million, the number of widows living in India is about 46 million.
