Here’s What The Mahindra Thar That’s Cheaper Than A Maruti Fronx Has To Offer
The Mahindra Thar is one of the most favourite vehicles of people who love modifying their cars. However, there are a lot of people who, despite loving this SUV, have to opt for practical cars such as the Maruti Suzuki Fronx in order to save money. Well, if you are one of those people, then here is an amazing option for you. Here is the detailed walkaround video of the Mahindra Thar which you can buy for a price less than that of the Fronx.
This video showing the new Mahindra Thar base AXT variant has been shared on YouTube by Fuel Injected on their channel. It starts off with the vlogger mentioning that this particular variant is the newly launched AXT base trim of the Mahindra Thar three-door. He mentions that it has been priced at Rs 9.99 lakh, which is more affordable than the top-of-the-line Maruti Suzuki Fronx, which is priced at Rs 11.97 lakh (ex-showroom prices).
He also highlights that the next model in the lineup of the Thar three-door is the LXT variant, which gets alloy wheels and some other creature comfort features. However, it is Rs 2.7 lakh more expensive, which makes it less ideal if the owner wants to modify their vehicle.
Following the introduction, the vlogger then starts showing the front end of this base variant Thar three-door. He highlights that this variant comes equipped with a set of halogen headlights, a gloss black grille, and a black cladded bumper. The higher variants get a dual-tone front bumper and LED headlights and fog lights along with LED turn indicators and DRLs on the fenders (this one gets halogen turn indicators).
He then mentions that this variant is basically for those people who want to modify their Thar. In general, most Thar owners opt for a bigger Jeep Rubicon-style front grille, aftermarket LED headlights, and fog lights. Now, as this variant does not come offered with these, it makes it more affordable and practical for modifiers. Next up, he shows the side profile of this SUV and highlights that it also does not have a radio antenna on the left side and comes equipped with 16-inch steel wheels.

Once again, this is not a huge issue for a lot of Thar owners, as they mostly opt for larger alloy wheels and bigger tyres. Additionally, the SUV also does not come equipped with flush-fitting side steps. Instead, it gets roll bar-style side steps. He then shows the rear end of the Thar AXT, which comes with the standard spare wheel and no reverse camera, rear window wiper, or washer.
It, however, does get a rear defogger and four parking sensors. Apart from these, it looks almost the same as the other Thar three-door variants, as it gets the same rear bumper and LED taillights with Thar lettering inside. The vlogger highlighted that a reverse camera can be easily added.

Following the exterior, he then shows the interior of this SUV. It comes offered with leatherette upholstery, a manual air conditioning system, a gauge cluster with a small MID, power windows, ABS, TCS, hill descent control, and dual airbags along with other features. It does miss out on speakers and an infotainment system, but like other things, they can also be fitted from aftermarket shops.

The Mahindra Thar three-door AXT variant comes equipped with the 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine. It is capable of making 117 PS of power and 300 Nm of torque. This variant is offered with the rear-wheel-drive variant, which most people opt for when buying a Mahindra Thar.
