Hezbollah Commander Ibrahim Aqeel : Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Aqeel killed in Israeli air strike. According to reports, Lebanese Shi'ite movement Hezbollah confirmed that special operations commander Ibrahim Aqeel was killed in an Israeli air strike on a southern Beirut suburb. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Friday that Aqeel and several other commanders were killed in an attack on Beirut's southern suburbs.

Aqeel is believed to have been involved in the 1983 bombing of the US embassy in Beirut and was wanted by the US. On Friday, at least 14 people, including Aqeel, were killed and 60 others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in Beirut's southern suburb (Dahieh).

Ibrahim Aqeel was the head of Hezbollah's top military unit, the Radwan Forces. He was also the second commander-in-chief of the Hezbollah armed forces after Fuad Shukr. According to the US State Department, Ibrahim Aqeel also served on Hezbollah's top military body, the Jihad Council.
