Hezbollah confirms death of Hassan Nasrallah's potential successor Hashem Saffieddin, killed in Israeli airstrike

New Delhi. Hezbollah has confirmed the death of Hashem Safieddine. Let us tell you that after the death of Hassan Nasrallah, Safidin got the command of Hezbollah. After Nasrallah's death, earlier this month, the Israeli army had claimed that it had killed Saffieddin in Beirut, but this was not officially confirmed by Lebanon and Hezbollah. However, now after about a month, Hezbollah has confirmed it. According to the report, Hezbollah said in a statement that Safieddin was killed in an Israeli air strike. According to CNN report, Hezbollah did not mention the date of the airstrike in its statement.

The Israeli Army (IDF) claimed to have killed Saffieddin on 4 October. Saffiedine was killed along with the commander of Hezbollah's intelligence headquarters, Hussein Ali Hazimah, during an October 4 raid by the IDF, The Times of Israel reported.

Who was Hashem Saffieddin?

Hashem Safieddine was declared a terrorist by the United States in 2017. He is currently playing an important role in the political affairs of Hezbollah and was also a member of the Jihad Council of the terrorist organization. Safieddin was counted among the top three leaders of Hezbollah along with Nasrallah and Naim Qasim. It was being said that Hashem Saffieddin was evading Israeli attacks. He had been looking after the political affairs of Hezbollah. He was also the head of the Executive Council. Apart from this, he was also the chairman of the Jihad Council, which plans the military operations of the organization. Hashem wore a black turban.

In 1995 it joined the Majlis al-Shura, the group's highest decision-making body. Saffieddin has always been considered a potential successor to Nasrallah, speculation about this role has intensified since 2006, when Iran reportedly promoted him as a possible future leader of the organization. He is one of six clerics serving on the Shura Council, Hezbollah's highest advisory body. She was elected head of the Executive Council in 2001.
