High alert in India after Khamenei’s death, warning of strictness on law and order
High alert has been declared across India in view of the increasing tension in the Middle East after the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the US-Israeli attack. The Home Ministry has issued instructions to all the states to keep a strict vigil on suspicious elements and ensure law and order by deploying adequate police forces.
Demonstrations by Khamenei supporters are taking place in many parts of the country, as well as messages spreading confusion are going viral on social media. The administration has warned to refrain from sharing inflammatory, rumored or objectionable material, otherwise the risk of disturbance of peace will increase.
The right to peaceful demonstration remains intact, but violence, damage to public property or clashes with police will not be tolerated. Only common people are harmed by this.
Strict legal action will be taken on any violation. Special attention will be kept on instigators and anti-social elements.
The local police in Bandipora, Karnataka has appealed that citizens should cooperate in maintaining peace. Stay away from vandalism, rioting or stone pelting, as this affects students, traders and laborers. Education, transport and the economy come to a standstill.
This vigilance of India is an important step towards keeping the country safe from global unrest.
