High Court ban on organizing Vikram Award-2023, next hearing on January 5

Jabalpur: Madhya Pradesh High Court has put an interim stay on organizing the Vikram Award-2023 given for adventure sports. A single bench of Justice Vishal Mishra has said that the event should not be organized till the next hearing of the case. Justice Single Bench has issued a notice to the second claimant Bhavna Dehariya and sought her reply. The next hearing on the petition has been scheduled for January 5, 2026.

Actually, a petition has been filed on behalf of mountaineer Megha Parmar, resident of Sehore, taking objection. It was said that the MP government has announced Vikram Award for adventure sports for 2023. Under this, Chhindwara resident mountaineer Bhavana Dehariya has been selected. He said that he had no objection to Bhavana’s selection.

The climber said she also deserves the award

However, she says that she was the leader among those who hoisted the tricolor on the world’s highest peak Mount Everest on 22 May 2019. He had hoisted the tricolor before Bhavna Dehariya. There was a gap of five hours between the two. Megha had reached the peak at five in the morning, while Bhavna had reached at quarter to ten. In this respect, like Bhavna, Megha also has a right on the Vikram Award.

Cited the case of 2022

During the last hearing, senior advocate Tankha had argued that the rules had been relaxed in the process of selection for the Vikram Award in 2022. Due to this, the names of two male players of the state, mountaineer Bhagwan Singh and Ratnesh, were sealed. There was a gap of one hour between the two in achieving the target. There is an example of changing the rule of giving award to only one player in a year.

According to the nomination process, this is the last chance for petitioner Megha to get the Vikram Award. Senior advocate Vivek Krishna Tankha, advocating on behalf of Megha, argued through video conferencing that the petitioner is the right claimant for this award. Therefore, till the final disposal of the petition, the said award should not be given to anyone else.

Megha became the first brand ambassador of the campaign

The lawyer told that Megha was appointed the brand ambassador of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign run in the state and Bhavna got this opportunity after Megha. After the petition, the single bench issued the above order.

While hearing this petition, the single bench of Justice Vishal Mishra has put an interim stay on giving the Vikram Award to Bhavna Dehariya, and while allowing changes in the petition, the next hearing on the petition has been scheduled for January 5.
