Notice to Sonia and Rahul Gandhi from Delhi High Court

Delhi High Court has issued notice to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in **National Herald case**. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had appealed against the trial court’s order refusing to consider the charge sheet.

Lower court order and High Court hearing

Justice Ravindra Dudeja decided to seek response from Sonia and Rahul on the ED petition. ED had sought adjournment on the trial court’s order on December 16. The trial court had remarked that the case is already being investigated by **Economic Offenses Wing** of Delhi Police, hence no further action can be taken under money laundering. The next hearing of this case will be on March 12, 2026. In this context, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta presented the ED’s position, while senior lawyers Abhishek Manu Singhvi and RS Cheema presented their arguments on behalf of Sonia and Rahul.

Trial Court Overview

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court had on December 16 refused to take cognizance of the chargesheet filed by the ED. During the hearing, the court pronounced the order regarding the complaint of EOW (Economic Offenses Wing). The Court raised questions on the fact that no predicate crime has been registered by **CBI** yet, yet ED proceeded with the investigation under PMLA.
