High-level meeting of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh amid conflict in West Asia, emphasis on further strengthening preparations

New Delhi, 24 March. The central government seems to be cautious about India’s defense preparedness amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia. In this sequence, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh held a high-level meeting here on Tuesday to review the current global situation and its impact on India’s security.

Assessment of security scenario in the presence of the three army chiefs

The meeting was attended by the Chief of Defense Staff, chiefs of the three services, Defense Secretary, Defense Production Secretary and Chairman of Defense Research and Development Organisation. It included a detailed assessment of the global and regional security situation, the possible expansion of the current conflict and its impact on India.

Focus on supply chain and defense equipment

Procurement, production and supply chain management of defense equipment were also discussed during the meeting. Measures to maintain the existing equipment and ensure their serviceability were analyzed so that the Army remains fully prepared in case of any emergency.

Instructions for learning operational and technical lessons

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh directed that operational and technical experiences gained from the current conflict should be continuously studied. He said that on the basis of these lessons, India can further strengthen its military strategy and preparedness.

Need for an integrated roadmap for the next decade

Rajnath Singh stressed that the country should prepare a comprehensive and integrated defense roadmap for the next decade. In this, priority should be given to self-reliance, modern technology and operational readiness, so that future challenges can be faced effectively.

Emphasis on self-reliant defense system

He said that it is extremely important to increase self-reliance in the defense sector, keeping in mind the lessons learned, potential challenges and opportunities. With this, India will not only strengthen its security but will also be able to strengthen its position in defense production at the global level.
