High level meeting of PM Narendra Modi, review of country’s preparedness on West Asia crisis

In view of the rapidly changing situation in West Asia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday chaired an important meeting with the Chief Ministers of all the states and Lieutenant Governors of the Union Territories. The purpose of this high-level meeting was to review the country’s preparedness and decide on strategies to deal with possible challenges. In the meeting, special emphasis was laid on the need for better coordination, vigilance and prompt action between the Center and the states.

Example of Covid-19 pandemic

Addressing through video conferencing, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that with the collective efforts of “Team India” the country is capable of facing every situation. Giving the example of the Covid-19 pandemic, he said that during that time many major challenges were successfully handled due to strong coordination between the Center and the states. Describing the current situation as equally sensitive, he said that constant monitoring should be maintained.

The Prime Minister said that since March 3, an inter-ministerial group is reviewing the situation daily and the situation is being monitored at every level. He said that in this era of global uncertainties, the government’s priorities are clear – maintaining economic stability, smooth business activities, ensuring energy supply and protecting the interests of the citizens. Besides, it is also very important to strengthen industries and supply chains.

Emphasizing the responsibility of the states, the Prime Minister said that they should maintain the availability of essential commodities and do not allow any kind of hindrance in the supply. He instructed to take strict action against hoarding and profiteering. Apart from this, it was also asked to keep the control room active at the state and district level and to increase administrative vigilance, so that any possible disturbance can be stopped in time.

Prime Minister gave special instructions

The Prime Minister also gave special instructions regarding the agriculture sector. He stressed on making advance planning for storage and distribution of fertilizers keeping in mind the upcoming Kharif season, so that farmers do not face any kind of problem.

Finally, the Prime Minister appealed to be cautious of rumors and misinformation. He said that it is very important to provide correct and accurate information to the public on time, so that unnecessary fear and confusion does not arise. Besides, he also advised people to be cautious of online fraud and fake agents.
