Speeding trailer collides with police vehicle, five soldiers martyred, three in critical condition

New Delhi. A tragic accident took place in Jharsuguda district of Odisha on Sunday morning. Five policemen on duty died in a road accident on Sunday morning. Three police personnel have been seriously injured in the accident. The accident occurred when a speeding trailer hit the police PCR. On receiving information about the accident, all the officers of the district including the SSP reached the spot.

On Sunday morning, APR jawans Kashiram Bhoi and Debdutt Sa, Drill Sub-Inspector Niranjan Kujur, APR Havildar Lingaraj Dhurua and Home Guard Bhaktabandhu Mirdha along with three other jawans were patrolling through PCR. During this time, a speeding trailer hit the PCR in front of Jharsuguda Sadar police station. In the accident, APR jawans Kashiram Bhoi and Debdutt Sa, Drill Sub-Inspector Niranjan Kujur, APR Havildar Lingaraj Dhurua and Home Guard Bhaktabandhu Mirdha died on the spot, while three jawans were seriously injured. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the police vehicle was on duty. During this, a speeding trailer coming from the opposite direction hit the police vehicle in front. The collision was so strong that the police vehicle was blown apart. Police officials said that the trailer driver has been taken into custody and is being interrogated. All the injured have been admitted to Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors have described their condition as critical. There is a wave of mourning in the entire district after the accident. The police department and the common people have expressed deep sorrow and condolences regarding the soldiers who were martyred in the line of duty.
