The woman whose hijab was removed by Nitish Kumar did not join duty, the government took this decision
Hijab Row: After the hijab controversy related to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the case of Muslim woman doctor Nusrat Parveen remains in the news. This issue is no longer limited to just the state, but has become a subject of political and social debate across the country. Meanwhile, Nusrat Parveen did not even report on the last date of joining the job, due to which the situation became more complicated.
Big decision of State Health Committee
Amidst all this development, the State Health Committee has taken an important decision and extended the last date of joining. Now Nusrat Parveen and other selected candidates can join their appointment till 31 December 2025. This step of the committee is being seen as showing administrative flexibility.
Joining was discussed on Saturday
On Friday i.e. 19th December, this information was revealed that Nusrat Parveen will join her appointment at Sabalpur Primary Health Center in Patna Sadar on 20th December. This discussion continued throughout the day from the Civil Surgeon’s office to the hospital. However, till 6 pm Nusrat neither reached the Civil Surgeon office nor appeared in the PHC.
Other doctors joined
Nusrat Parveen had received appointment letter as an AYUSH doctor and was posted in Sabalpur PHC. Other doctors in the list in which Nusrat’s name was included, completed their joining on Saturday. But Nusrat did not clarify to the health department whether she would join or not.
Civil surgeon’s statement
Patna Civil Surgeon Dr. Avinash Kumar Singh told the media that Nusrat Parveen had not joined till 2 pm. She said that if she had come to the office, her documents would have been scrutinized and a joining letter would have been issued. The time was fixed till 6 pm, but she did not reach within the stipulated time.
What was said at PHC level
Dr. Vijay Kumar, medical in-charge of Sabalpur Primary Health Center, said that any doctor has to first report to the Civil Surgeon office. From there, after receiving the joining letter, the doctors contribute to their allotted health centre. Five doctors completed the procedure on Saturday, but Nusrat Parveen was nowhere to be seen.
Now what next?
Even after waiting for the whole day, Nusrat Parveen neither reported to the Civil Surgeon office nor reached the hospital. However, after the joining date has been extended, the ball is now in their court. It will be important to see whether she accepts her appointment within the new deadline or not.
