Himachal Pradesh: Taking an important decision regarding entry tax in the state, the government has announced relief to many categories of vehicles. This decision of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu is expected to directly benefit the general public, small businessmen and the transport sector.
Light commercial vehicles exempted from toll
The government has decided to completely exempt light commercial vehicles like pickups, taxis and three-wheelers from toll tax. This decision will provide great relief to small traders and local transport services, as these vehicles are often used for transportation of everyday goods and transportation of passengers.

Toll rates for heavy vehicles remain the same
There has been no change in toll rates for heavy vehicles. The toll for trucks with sixteen tires has been kept at Rs 320 only, while for trucks with 10 to 14 tires the rate of Rs 570 will be applicable. The government believes that by keeping these rates stable, there will be no unnecessary increase in transportation costs and the impact on goods prices will be limited.
Relief to cars coming from outside states
Relief has also been given for passenger cars coming from other states. Now these vehicles will have to pay only Rs 100 toll instead of Rs 130. This decision is likely to boost tourism, as the low toll fee will make it easier for people from outside states to travel.
Exemption will continue for local residents
Local residents living within a radius of five kilometers of the border toll barrier will continue to get the same exemption as before. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the interests of the local people, so that they do not have to face any additional financial burden in their daily commute.
Trade and tourism will get a boost
This step of the government is expected to give impetus to business activities in the state. Small traders and people associated with the transport sector will be able to take direct benefit of this relief.
