‘Himant is the most corrupt CM, running land ATMs in the state in collaboration with Modi-Shah’ – Rahul Gandhi
Bureau Prayagraj. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday described Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma as India’s “most corrupt Chief Minister” and alleged that Sharma, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, are running “Land ATM” in the state and snatching land from common people and giving it to big industrialists.
Addressing an election rally in support of party candidate Ratan Ingati in Bokajan assembly constituency, he also said that popular singer Zubin Garg stood for Assam and its people and the Congress party will deliver justice in his death case within 100 days of coming to power in the state.
Rahul Gandhi said, “India’s most corrupt Chief Minister is Himanta Vishwa Sharma and his family is also at number one in terms of corruption. Congress government will take action against them. No matter how much he may brag now, after that he will become completely silent.”
Rahul Gandhi claimed that a total of 98,400 bighas of land has been handed over to three big corporate houses in Assam. He said, “These lands have been snatched from the people. Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Himanta Vishwa Sharma have made a ‘Land ATM’ in Assam. They snatch land from people and give it to big industrialists.
Referring to famous musician Zubin Garg, Rahul Gandhi said that he represented the entire state and its people. Garg died of drowning in Singapore in September last year. He did not stand for one person, one community, one language or one history. He reflected the spirit of the multicultural and multi-religious tradition of Assam. If we come to power, we will provide justice within 100 days and this is 100 percent certain.
Rahul Gandhi also said that Congress believes in decentralization, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to run Assam from Delhi.
