Mohan Bhagwat On Hindu Population Growth: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat Currently two days Lucknow While on tour, he commented on various burning issues in the social harmony meeting on Tuesday. Stating that the declining birth rate in Hindu society is a matter of concern, he expressed the view that every Hindu family should have at least three children to maintain population balance.
Population and the role of cash on ‘homecoming’
Speaking on the issue of population, Mohan Bhagwat said, “Hindu society needs to take family expansion seriously. Imbalance of population can be disastrous for the future, so youth should consider parenting at least three children after marriage.” Also, on the issue of ‘homecoming’, he clarified that it is not an instantaneous process but a gradual process through social interaction and harmony.
“Hindus are the ancestors of Indian Muslims”
While stressing on social harmony, the Sarsangh leader made a big statement about Muslims. “The roots of the Muslims living in India are connected to this land. They are the children of the forefathers. Therefore, there is a real need today to unite the society instead of dividing it,” he noted. To a question about the Muslim National Forum, he explained that some Muslims themselves expressed their desire to join the Sangh, hence the formation of this forum.

UGC Rules and Constitutional Procedures
Bhagwat defended the government on the ongoing controversy over University Grants Commission (UGC) rules. “The rules made by the government are not against any particular class. It is the responsibility of every citizen to abide by the law. If anyone has objections, they should raise their case through constitutional channels, as the matter is sub judice,” he said.
A call for cooperation in eradicating caste discrimination
While expressing concern over the caste system, Bhagwat gave a poignant example. He said, “If a person falls into a pit, an outsider has to lean in to pull him out, and the person in the pit has to raise his hand. That is, social harmony is possible only through mutual cooperation.” He appealed to forget caste politics and discrimination and come together as a society.
Need to take confidence from history
He tried to instill confidence in the Hindu society by proving that Indian culture and ancient traditions remained intact even during the long rule of the Mughals and the British. “Our culture is strong despite many attacks, so today’s society should move forward with full confidence,” he said.
