Aamir Khan said during an event – The original script written by Raju (Rajkumar Hirani) for Munna Bhai 2 was pitched to me. He wanted me to play the lead role in that film. But the day he came to narrate the script to me, he said – Aamir, actually the script I was going to narrate has now changed. That film has now become Munna Bhai 2. I asked him, what is that script that you were going to narrate to me, but now it is going to be some other film? So on this Rajkumar Hirani said that now I am making Munna Bhai 2 from that script.

We are in the 90’s, the world has progressed a lot but this man thinks we are still there. That’s why he talks to Gandhiji and keeps doing all those things. Because he does not know that Gandhiji has passed away and has been assassinated. So this was the original concept on which Rajkumar Hirani was going to make a film with Aamir Khan, but then by molding this story he made Munna Bhai 2, in which Sanjay Dutt played the lead role.
