Historic night! Smriti Mandhana adds another feather to her T20I legacy

NEW DELHI: India’s T20I vice captain Smriti Mandhana continued her sublime run in white ball cricket by adding another landmark to her illustrious career in the first T20I against Sri Lanka in Visakhapatnam.

Chasing a modest target of 122, Mandhana laid the foundation with a composed 25 off 25 balls. It was not an explosive innings, but it gave India the stability needed to cruise through the chase without any pressure.

During this knock, Mandhana etched her name into the record books. She became the first Asian batsman to cross 4000 runs in women’s T20I cricket.

Overall, only New Zealand’s Suzie Bates has more runs in the format, placing Mandhana among the elite batters in world cricket.
