Historic turn in Bihar politics: ‘Nitish era’ ends, Chief Minister files nomination for Rajya Sabha
Patna. A big chapter in Bihar politics seemed to be ending on Thursday. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who was at the center of power in the state for almost two decades, filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections in the Bihar Assembly. Now the way has been cleared for him to enter active politics in Delhi.
On this historic occasion, Union Home Minister Amit Shah specially reached Patna, due to which discussions about a major leadership change in the state have intensified.
Five NDA candidates filed nomination-
Five candidates of the NDA alliance jointly filed their nomination papers before the Secretary of Bihar Assembly.
These include Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, BJP leader and national president Nitin Naveen, JDU’s Ramnath Thakur, RLM chief Upendra Kushwaha and BJP’s Shivesh Kumar.
During the nomination, senior leaders of various parties of NDA were seen on one stage, which gave the message of unity of the alliance.
Political importance increased due to presence of Amit Shah-
The presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah made this entire incident very important politically.
After completion of the nomination process, Amit Shah directly reached the State Guest House, where he held a high-level meeting with senior BJP leaders and MLAs.
According to sources, in this meeting the final discussion is being held on the name of the next Chief Minister of Bihar and the form of the new cabinet. It is believed that after this change, the Chief Minister of BJP can take oath for the first time in Bihar.
Nitish Kumar’s emotional message-
Before nomination, Nitish Kumar shared an emotional message on social media. He wrote that he has worked with full devotion and dedication for the development and respect of Bihar.
He also said that he had a long-standing desire to have the honor of becoming a member of all four legislative houses of the country—the Legislative Assembly, the Legislative Council, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. His wish is going to be fulfilled with his nomination for Rajya Sabha.
He assured that the new government will continue to get his continuous guidance and support.
There was commotion in the assembly premises throughout the day.
Tight security arrangements were made in the Bihar Assembly complex since Thursday morning and there was a gathering of leaders and supporters. The nomination process was completed at around 2 pm.
The news of Nitish Kumar going to Rajya Sabha got mixed reactions among his supporters. Many workers were seen emotional, while in the BJP camp there was an atmosphere of excitement over the possibility of the state having its own Chief Minister for the first time.
Now everyone’s eyes are on who will be handed over the reins of power in Bihar.
